May 31, 2019. Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member Bilingual Child Care & Education Center, Inc at a ribbon cutting celebration on May 21, 2019. The event took place at 720 Wildwood Road, Mahtomedi, MN. Bilingual Child Care owner, staff, friends, child care families, Lake Elmo elementary teachers, Chamber Ambassadors and staff were there to join in the celebration. The Mahtomedi location is their second, and has been open since January 28, 2019.

Learning two languages is a skill acquired with ease when we are young, so many families are choosing an immersion learning environment for their children. Bilingual Child Care & Education Center is a family-owned business, run by Leah and Miguel Retamozo, and is much more than just an early learning program. The Center is a community of families and educators who come together to share a love of language, culture, learning, and play. The new location, off of 694 and Century Avenue, helps to meet a growing demand for Spanish Immersion education in the northeast metro-area. Lake Elmo Elementary School, which is a few miles away, is in its second year of a Spanish Immersion elementary program.

The Mission of Bilingual Child Care & Education Center, Inc is to support families who wish to raise bilingual children by supporting the natural development of Spanish language skills and cultural awareness while preparing children for success in school. The Center is dedicated to its values of safe, quality care, language acquisition, cultural immersion, education and development, and are proud to provide an exceptional, dynamic, engaging environment to raise healthy, happy bilingual children.

The Retamozos started their Spanish Immersion child care center in a St Paul church basement, and a few years later moved to their current location in Roseville. The couple is considering opening a third location in the Stillwater area. Ms. Retamozo’s experiences of learning language, traveling, living in Spanish speaking countries, and raising three bilingual children of her own have shaped her beliefs. Bilingualism and cultural immersion have the power to enrich lives, create greater harmony among people, and propel us forward as individuals and within our communities. These beliefs are what inspired the creation of Bilingual Child Care & Education Center!

The Greater Stillwater Chamber is proud to welcome Bilingual Child Care & Education Center, Inc into our community and wish them the best of luck!
