June 2018. Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated Hope House of St. Croix Valley, at a ribbon cutting ceremony for their 25+ years in operation on June 20th. The event took place at the Hope House located in a beautiful and historic neighborhood in Stillwater. Bill Tiedemann, Executive Director, proudly cut the ribbon with Organization Affiliates, Residents of the Home, Chamber Ambassadors and Staff, Friends and Family, and Hope House supporters attending. Hope House, along with Forward Promotions in a joint ribbon cutting, celebrated the day with an outdoor barbecue in the quaint and serene backyard of the home. We then gathered on the front porch for photo-ops and to cut the official ribbon.

Hope House of St. Croix Valley started in 1991 as an Adult Foster Care Organization that provides services to individuals living with HIV who otherwise cannot live independently. Hope House has a mission to provide a non-judgmental home with compassionate care, respecting the dignity of people living with HIV/AIDS. Hope House can serve up to four residents at a time. Residents joined the celebration and gave tours of this historic home. The House is beautifully well-kept and as stunning as ever, with a front porch inviting you for a relaxing afternoon lounge under the shade of established trees and landscape in this peaceful neighborhood location.

Hope House of St. Croix Valley was founded by two St. Croix Valley residents, Teresa and Casey vanderBent. Their research on AIDS housing found that people living with AIDS were an almost invisible group receiving the least amount of housing services in Minnesota. As a result of their research and the strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, Hope House was created. Today, Hope House works closely with federal, state and local partners to ensure that the health care and human rights of all people living with HIV are protected. Most recently, Hope House worked in collaboration with state and local partners to pass legislation to create the first ever Statewide Plan to end HIV in Minnesota. As a service to our community, Hope House is also committed to keeping local residents informed about the prevention and care of HIV, STDs and Hepatitis.
