GREATER STILLWATER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE / PRESS RELEASE Chamber Celebrates Bayport American Legion
Commander Wally Reynolds cut the ribbon at the Chamber ribbon cutting celebration on November 19th, 2025.Bayport, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated local business Bayport American Legion Hesley Jensen Post 491 on November 19th, 2025. Commander Wally Reynolds cut the ribbon, commemorating the completion of its beautifully renovated lounge and the continued commitment to serving veterans and the St. Croix Valley community. Members, friends, and guests along with Greater Stillwater Chamber ambassadors, and staff gathered for the celebration.
Established in 1922, the Bayport American Legion Post is named in honor of Hesley Jensen, a local hero who lost his life during World War I. For more than a century, the Post has been a steadfast pillar for veterans and their families, with members representing every branch of the military; active duty, reserves, and veterans who served in all major U.S. conflicts over the past eighty years.
Commander Wally Reynolds shared pride in the Post’s latest transformation, noting the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the newly remodeled bar and lounge area. The refreshed space now features comfortable seating and multiple 65-inch TVs, creating one of the most inviting spots in Bayport to enjoy a cold beverage, catch a game, and connect with fellow veterans and friends.
“Our newly remodeled bar has been getting great reviews,” Commander Reynolds said. “It’s quickly become one of the best places in town to relax with friends and fellow veterans. Even more exciting, this month our Post proudly donated over $50,000 back into our local community. Thank you for helping make this happen.”
In addition to the renovation, Post 491 continues to demonstrate exemplary community spirit. From welcoming the community to chicken fry dinners and bingo, to hosting holiday activities for local families, to volunteering at meal-packing events and preparing for their annual Holiday Bake Sale, the Legion’s Auxiliary, led by President Rebecca Wolfe, remains actively engaged in service and outreach.
The Chamber was pleased to join Commander Reynolds, Auxiliary members, Post leaders, veterans, volunteers, and community supporters in recognizing this milestone and honoring the Post’s enduring mission.
The Bayport American Legion Post 491 is open to the public and encourages community members to stop in, get involved, and experience firsthand the camaraderie that keeps the Post thriving.Bayport Legion Post 491
