Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated the dedication and naming of the main lobby, now Arba-Della Beck Memorial Lobby at FamilyMeans with a ribbon cutting celebration on October 18, 2021. The event took place at 1875 Northwestern Avenue  S., Stillwater, MN.

FamilyMeans President and Ceo Jim Kroening, Board Members, children of Arba-Della Beck,  Greater Stillwater Chamber Board members and staff were in attendance.

FamilyMeans President Emerita, Arba-Della Beck passed away in June after a long battle with breast cancer. President Beck was a pillar in the Stillwater community and was highly regarded by so many. “In her nearly 25 years as the President of FamilyMeans she helped to move the mission of helping individuals and families through life’s challenges in so many ways” states Melena Nelson, Director of Development and Communications. When she passed, FamilyMeans wanted to find a way to honor her legacy and her work in the community in a lasting way. She wanted those that entered the doors to feel ‘welcome, no matter what was going on in their lives’ and comfortable thus naming the lobby after her was fitting.

Under Beck’s leadership, FamilyMeans services flourished, expanding and changing as the community's needs evolved. She supported the agency in accomplishing three merger acquisitions, and completed a successful capital campaign for the construction of its headquarters in Stillwater.  Services provided include mental health outpatient clinics in Stillwater, Hudson, and St. Paul, as well as 16 school buildings, youth programs in Cimarron (Lake Elmo) and Landfall, financial counseling and debt management program, and caregiver support services. The vision of FamilyMeans is to support “vibrant and resilient communities where everyone lives to their fullest potential.” Beck exemplified those words, and it now lives in word and spirit when you walk through the doors.
