October 7, 2021, Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated United Way Washington County East (UWWCE) serving just over 70 years to individuals and organizations with a ribbon cutting celebration on October 7, 2021. The event took place at 1825 Curve Crest, Stillwater, MN. Executive Director Jessica Ryan, board members, staff, as well as non-profit organizations, Greater Stillwater Chamber members, Chamber Ambassadors and staff were there to join in the celebration.
The United Way of Washington County East has a long history of impacting lives in the St. Croix Valley. Since it was founded as The Washington County Community Chest in 1949, it has grown into a vital, viable and fiscally sound agent of change and support that meets the needs of the communities we serve.
The UWWCE focuses on four impact and funding areas, youth, basic needs, health and self-sufficiency - all of which unite our community to build a better life. There are currently 19 agencies and 35 programs the UWWCE funds and supports. “The goal this year is to raise $700,000 through our annual campaign and community-wide partnerships. Our local United Way is striving to understand the needs within our community, how those needs change and the impact we have for the people” states Ryan.
In addition to raising funds through campaigns, the United Way of Washington County East supports community efforts including Stuff the Bus, a school supplies fundraiser; Women UNITED, which helps mentor women and single parents with job enhancing programs; and Youth UNITED, which supports youth philanthropy.
The UWWCE strives to raise funds and support local agencies to ensure financial stability required to provide critical, local services.
