    About Community Thread: Community Thread is a community-based and community-supported nonprofit located in Stillwater that provides programs that connect people and enrich lives through volunteer engagement. We have been serving our greater Stillwater neighbors for 57 years.
     
    Position Summary: The Executive Director provides overall administration, management, planning, and leadership for Community Thread by working with the Board of Directors, staff, and community stakeholders.
     
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provides leadership in implementing the Community Thread strategic plan as a means of fulfilling the vision and mission of the organization.
    • Works with the Board of Directors to establish policies, procedures, and mission driven programs. Administers all policies, procedures and programs.
    • Develops and administers standards and procedures related to human resources, budget, fund development, program evaluation, and physical facilities. 
    • Creates and maintains financial stability, including following a board approved budget, monitoring cash flow, and providing financial information for financial reports including the annual audit.
    • Ensures the success of public and private fundraising efforts by developing an annual fund development plan in partnership with the Development Director.
    • Provides leadership in public relations on behalf of Community Thread. Represents the agency and advocates for those we serve through local and collaborative partnerships.
    • Raises community awareness of and support for volunteerism and services for older and disabled adults.
    • Provides leadership for board development and engagement.
    • Oversees day to day operations of the organization.
    • Maintains consistent and effective communication with the Board.

      Specific Duties (The position will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties):
    • Supports the efforts of the Board of Directors including review of policies, best practices, board effectiveness, and board committee or task force outcomes. Coordinates and provides all materials for board meetings.
    • Recruits, orients and engages new board members with the assistance of the full board, with a focus on identifying diverse board members.
    • Supports the daily efforts of staff including regular supervision interactions, staff meetings, staff development activities and performance reviews.
    • Supports Community Thread volunteers as they assist in carrying out the objectives of the organization.
    • Works with the Development Director to develop and execute strategies in the fund development plan as well as taking initiative to implement new strategies to raise funds. Assists with grant writing, grant reporting and fund development strategies.
    • Oversees facilities management including building systems maintenance, and routine building issues as they arise.
    • Executes contracts related to maintenance and conducting the routine operations of the organization.
    • Prepares requests for board approval of purchases/repairs exceeding $5,000.
    • Recommends and oversees personnel policy including benefits administration, hiring, termination, and supervision of staff.
    • Creates regular financial reports, cash flow projections, and other financial management tools to maintain clear and transparent financial information.
    • Prepares documents for the auditor’s review. Ensures that all federal and state reporting requirements are met.
    • Implements the strategic plan through staff work plans and dashboard reports.
    • Develops strategic alliances that are mutually beneficial to all partners, capitalizing on community resources to help meet Community Thread’s mission.

      Job Requirements:
    • Master’s degree or equivalent and/or 5-7years related experience. Additional experience in or knowledge of the field of volunteer management preferred.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the nonprofit sector including best practices in nonprofit management, donor relations, and staff development.
    • Interest, experience, and commitment for volunteerism and community building and organizing.
    • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through in an independent, responsible, and professional manner.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a diverse population.
    • Ability to represent Community Thread in a professional manner.
    • Willingness to travel as needed. Valid driver’s license required.
    • Strong computer skills, including use of databases; accounting systems; web-based applications and social media.
    • Initiative and ability to effectively lead a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

      Work Environment:
    • This is primarily an in-office position.
    • Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekends as needed.

    • Position is 1.0 FTE.
    • Position eligible for PTO benefits; 403(b) retirement plan.
    • Position eligible for Health Insurance and Dental benefits.  All employees participate in cost sharing for these benefits.
