Stillwater Public Library presents ''Byzantine Orthodox Tradition'' by Korluka
-
In January and February, the Stillwater Public Library Gallery is hosting a show of icons in the Byzantine Orthodox tradition by Debra Korluka. Debra has shown her work both nationally and abroad and was the first American to exhibit iconography in the former Soviet Union. Her work has been commissioned by churches and individuals throughout the nation and internationally. Debra produces formal icons for liturgical use, with acrylic paint on board. She also creates images and icons on decorative eggs. In addition to her religious images, Debra specializes in equine art.
Debra teaches iconography to classes and individual students. She produces an informative newsletter and website www.icon-art-studios.com where she blogs about iconography. She also leads tours to important sites of Orthodox iconography in Russia and the Ukraine. Debra lives and has her studio north of Stillwater, MN.
A reception to honor the artist will be held on Saturday, January 23, from 2 to 4 P.M. in the gallery, which is on the upper level of the library near the Margaret Rivers Meeting Room.
