Valley Friendship Club turns 10!

Valley Friendship Club (VFC) in Stillwater is thrilled to announce its 10-year anniversary on April 27th!
 
When the idea of Valley Friendship Club was formed 10 years ago, the dream was to fill a desperate void in the St Croix Valley for social connections for young people and adults with disabilities.  VFC is deeply grateful and thankful for the absolute embrace from the community that made this dream a reality.  The dream, of course, is that all VFC members should have the opportunity to build enduring friendships while fostering community connections. Thus, Valley Friendship Club was conceived.
 
From the beginning VFC was supported by people living with disabilities and their family members.  But the dream of VFC was uplifted by other non-profits, local businesses, private foundations, our local school district (ISD834), local volunteers, and countless others.  Many hands and hearts helped create this organization and most importantly demonstrated the generosity of the Valley!
 
VFC is now an established organization with over 225 members strong and committed volunteers providing over 1000 hours of service per year - just the first 10 years!  The next 10 years will bring even more opportunity for VFC to grow and continue to provide a welcoming place for all members of this community.  Part of that growth is the transition of daily operations from Susan Kane (one of VFC’s founders) to a professional staff ensuring that VFC will continue to meet the needs of the future.  Pete Erickson, Executive Director; Angelina Corbett, Event Coordinator; and Tori Conners, Program Coordinator are all more than ready to lead this effort!

Covid-19 has transformed our programing in many creative and challenging ways, but we plan to celebrate this monumental milestone throughout the year! VFC want to thank all of its partners, members and volunteer for 10 years of support and continued investment in its friends and their future!
