The Washington County Historical Society collects, preserves, and disseminates the history of Washington County and its communities. Join us on our journey through the Gateway to Minnesota History!
In 2013, the Washington County Historical Society acquired a building long known in Stillwater as the UFE Building – an aging light industrial facility located at 1862 Greeley Avenue. The group envisioned the site as a location for a long-desired Heritage Center, to house their sizable collection of historic documents and relics, and provide sufficient public display space to welcome history tourists and school groups.
While the pandemic slowed their plans, WCHS has persevered with fundraising and Phase I of the building renovation. The Heritage Center will formally open to the public this fall after a year-long renovation costing $2 million. On Wednesday, June 2, Chamber members can get a sneak peek tour and learn what the community can expect from the new building.
Come see the progress that is being made on their NEW space at 1862 S. Greeley Street and learn more!
