Stillwater Area Public Schools will be asking voters this fall to consider a bond referendum to replace two elementary schools\, add on to Oak-Land Middle School and make security improvements to schools across the district. Q&A from audience.\n\n\n\n\n\nMike Funk has been the Superintendent of Stillwater Area Public Schools since 2022. \n\nHe has been a superintendent since 2005\, most recently serving as the Superintendent in Albert Lea from 2009-22. Prior to becoming a superintendent\, he was a high school social studies teacher\, coach\, activities director\, and principal.\n\nMike is also a Retired Army Colonel from the Minnesota National Guard with 30 years of service. As a career infantry officer\, he commanded soldiers at the platoon\, company\, battalion\, and regimental level.\n\nHe deployed twice to the Balkans in the early 2000s. Mike has a strong academic background in strategic operations\, with a Doctorate in Educational Policy from the University of Minnesota\, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College. Funk was Named the Minnesota Superintendent of the Year in 2022\, by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.
