STILLWATER ROTARY CLUB / PRESS RELEASE NEW EVENT – Taste of the Valley (Former Sampler)

December 2018. The Stillwater Rotary Club announces the rebranding of the 10-year historic Sampler event to, the Taste of the Valley event which will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Lake Elmo Event Center from 6 – 9 pm. “After 10-years of hosting this traditional event, it was time for a bigger foot print which will invite more caterers and restaurants in the valley to participate,” says Stillwater Rotary President Nathan Pearson. Cost for the event is $50.00 which includes tasting of over 12 local restaurants, live music, a silent and live auction, and an evening of fun. This event serves as a fundraiser for charities, and is open to the public.

This year’s spotlight charities will be the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center, Canvas Health’s Crisis Connection, and a school building project in Ghana, Africa. The Rotary motto is, Service Above Self, and the mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. “We are excited to give back to our community in areas that are greatly needed,” stated President Nathan Pearson.

The Stillwater Rotary Foundation began in 1983 through the generous donations and foresight of several members within the Club, many of which are still active today. The Foundation was initially established to support local organizations and projects that are consistent with Rotary’s ideals and have a specific impact in our local area. Ideally these are new start up organizations. Initially a separate Foundation with an administrative board separate from the Club’s Board, the fund is managed today at the Saint Croix Valley Foundation and is overseen by the Club’s Board of Directors. The Corpus of the Foundation is about $135,000 and currently generates about $6,500 in annual distributions that are used to support local organizations and projects.
