Hudson, WI: The Directors of the St. Croix Valley Foundation have recently named Charlie Wikelius to the Foundation’s Board.
Wikelius grew up on a Chisago County dairy farm, north of Center City. He received both his undergraduate degree (B.A in Economics) and his law degree from the University of Minnesota.
In 1973, he joined the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, eventually serving on the AG’s Executive Committee and heading up its Business Regulation section, with responsibility for the Commerce, Charities, Human Rights, Utilities, Education and Tax Divisions.
In 2001, he joined the Legal Department at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, initially focusing on litigation. Later he assumed responsibility for the company’s regulatory matters and served as Assistant Vice President and Senior Counsel for Allianz Life until his retirement in 2016.
He is married to Ann Bellows. They have lived in the St. Croix Valley since 1977. They currently live in Stillwater. He will serve on the Foundation’s Grants and Programs Committee.
The St. Croix Valley Foundation was established in 1996 by local individuals in the valley who saw the benefits that a community foundation could bring. It has $60 million in assets under management. It serves the region through ten local affiliated foundations in Hudson, River Falls, Prescott, Amery, New Richmond, Somerset and the Northwest Alliance in Wisconsin; and in the Lower St. Croix Valley, Stillwater and the Chisago Lakes in Minnesota.
