September 2017. Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce welcomed Stillwater based non-profit, St Croix Legal Services at a ribbon cutting celebration on September 1. Attorneys, Chamber Ambassadors and business owners attended the event.
St. Croix Legal Services is a Minnesota non-profit law firm that provides high-quality legal services exclusively pro bono or on an income-based, sliding fee scale for individuals and families of modest means. In addition to their primary goal of providing access to the legal system, they are dedicated to developing and supporting programs and policies designed to close the “justice gap” on state and national levels. St. Croix Legal Services is the only organization of its kind in Washington County, providing much needed services to low and middle-income individuals and families in the St. Croix Valley.
Attorneys Adam M. Terwey and Matthew R. Wasik joined forces to establish St. Croix Legal Services and launched their practice in 2015. They offer services in the areas of family law, harassment, custody, orders of protection, criminal defense, and much more. They are both passionate about providing accessible legal services to the community and offer their services at fees half the cost of traditional law firms. “We believe that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, should have access to the legal system with high-quality representation” stated attorney Adam Terwey.
Mr. Terwey is a Stillwater native and a graduate of St. Thomas School of Law. He has extensive litigation experience and knows how to handle sensitive situations both in and out of the courtroom. His primary experience is in the areas of family law and criminal defense. Mr. Wasik attended Hamline University School of Law and is primarily focused on criminal law. He is particularly interested in the intersection between criminal law and the mental health system in Minnesota, and prior to his work at St. Croix Legal Services, he ran his own criminal law practice.
