September 2017. Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new Kwik Trip store in Oak Park Heights at a grand opening/ribbon cutting celebration on September 12. The new Kwik Trip employee team, mid-level management, and top leadership joined local government officials, other business owners and Chamber Ambassadors for the celebration.
Event attendees heard many speakers, including retired Kwik Trip founder, Don Zietlow who spoke about their culture of excellence, and his great appreciation for their hard-working employees. Extremely generous in all of the communities they serve, Kwik Trip awarded the Oak Park Heights Police Department, and local non-profit Youth Advantage each $1000 at the grand opening event. Kwik Trip’s mission is to serve their customers and community more effectively than anyone else by treating their customers, co-workers, and suppliers as they, personally, would like to be treated and to make a difference in someone’s life.
Established in 1965 with their first store in Eau Claire, WI, Kwik Trip is a privately owned business run by multiple generations of the Zietlow family. The company has grown from their humble beginnings to over 550 stores in the Midwest, employing over 20,000 people. They focus on doing right by their customers and their communities and stock the freshest foods at the lowest prices by producing many of their products themselves and keeping a close eye on costs. Then they pass the savings on to their customers.
Kwik Trip makes and delivers the freshest food, produce and fuel safely to their stores. They operate their own bakery, dairy and kitchens to make sure everything they sell is as big on fresh as it is low on price. They work around the clock to make sure their customers get the most out of their hard-earned money. They even have their own banana ripening rooms!
Some recent recognition they have received includes Retail Leader of the Year to Don Zietlow in 2012 from Convenience Store Petroleum Magazine, 21st Best Workplaces on the Top 150 Workplace in America in 2013, and earlier in 2017, they were listed as the 8th best company to work for in Minnesota.
