January 30, 2017. STILLWATER, MN – The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of their first annual community awards. The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s inaugural Winter Gala Community Award Celebration on February 10th from 5:30 – 11:00 pm at the Historic Water Street Inn.
The Chamber announced this new award celebration in early December and intends to make this an annual event. “We are very excited about this first annual inaugural event” stated Robin Anthony, Chamber Director. “We are focused on bridging business and community, and one of the many ways we are accomplishing this is by honoring those people and organizations who make our community a great place to live, work, and thrive.”
The Chamber received over fifty nominations in seven categories for these awards. The selection process included a panel of multiple local cities and a point system. A few candidates were nominated multiple times.
The 2017 Winter Gala Community Award Winners are:
Chamber Ambassador of the Year: John Ostrowski, Ostrowski Insurance
Educator of the Year: Sr Mary Juliana Cox, St. Croix Catholic School
Non-profit of the Year: Youth Service Bureau
Community Volunteer of the Year: Cory Buettner, Leo’s Grill & Malt Shop
Hero of the Year: Officer Quinn Willmarth, Bayport Police Department
Small Business of the Year: Special Products
Large Business of the Year: Lift Bridge Brewery
The theme of this year’s inaugural event is Fire & Ice and this community celebration is open to the public – all are welcome to attend! $75 tickets include a multi-course dinner, party favors, silent auction and raffle, live entertainment, awards ceremony, and an Ice Castles tour.
